My boyfriend bought a car at carhop almost a month ago. In fact his positive review of his initial service is below, that belief has drastically changed since. The car broke down the first day and left him 30 miles away from home. They said he could get out of deal or they would take care of the repairs. He had a good sales experience and put a lot of faith in honoring that they would get him a car in good working order. They got him back on the road same day and the car ran, but would periodically die and then would be quite difficult to start.
They said would set up an appointment for the repairs. Initially this didn't hinder driving. He was excited and put a lot of miles on the car while waiting for it to get into the shop. During this period he also got the oil changed, new tires, a new key/fob, and sold his van. They have a 7 day return policy, but it took two weeks to get it into the shop for the repairs.
A couple days after the initial shop repair it broke down again at Walmart. My guy is disabled and uses a wheelchair if anything over about 1/4 of a block. So, I drove to Walmart and I went in and bought a new battery and put it in his car. The car almost made it home before dying again and then it added a new issue where the gears wouldn't engage, I and another person pushed it into the driveway. We towed it back to Jeremy's garage in PW, carhop's chosen mechanic. Per info from Jeremy's Garage, Carhop apparently supplied the part , it was installed, and we received the car back.
It broke down again 2 days later with the same problem. While broken down this time we called carhop, they said they would tow it to Jeremy's garage and undo the deal if he wanted. As soon as the car got out of the shop the third time in less than a month, we took it back to Carhop, where they said how much they tried to help him. That they would apply for him to get his down payment and first payment back, but that it is prorated for mileage. So at the end of this experience he was left with no car and $1600 less in the bank.
Carhop got their crap car back with new tires, new battery, spare key, kept the down payment and first payment, all while telling him how they helped him out. What would have actually been helping him out, would have sold him a car that worked. He kept his side of the bargain, in the form of down payment, first payment, insurance, taking care of the vehicle, and taking it for the promised service.
Sold me a car that they said was safe, got it checked and lo and behold the mechanics they sent me to told me it was actually unsafe to drive. It was covered under the limited warranty but still. I gave it a chance, let it go past the two week return period since the problem was fixed but a month later the car just stopped driving mid drive.
Luckily I was not in a dangerous position. So I told them I didn't want the car, they told me to even discuss solutions I had to pay for January because the car had to get checked out to see what exactly was wrong. So I paid, turns out the car needed about 900 dollars worth of repairs and not all covered by the limited warranty. I told them 2 weeks ago I didn't want the car, I asked them to work with me as they promised they would when I got the car. Well the options I were given were keep the car or "voluntary repo" which isn't good for my credit.
They couldn't even bother to have the morals to own up to the fact they sold me a dangerous car that could have killed me. I took them at their word that they would work with me but that was naive, I knew it was stupid to trust such a company. Then it took them 2 weeks after I told them I didn't want the car to get back to me and even then I had to email twice during that duration and still they had the gall to act like I hadn't already told them 100% I don't want the car. They clearly were just trying to get as much money as they could from me by making me pay for January to even talk options, then denying me a refund for January even though they have been in possession of the car the whole month. And then delaying getting back to me about it for two weeks hoping I would let February roll around so they could charge me again. This is an immoral business, which is obvious considering what type it is but seriously.
Do business with a different company if you have to do it with such companies. They have a 4.5 star average review on google but a 1.06 one on here. It seems obvious to me they have probably manipulated their google reviews. This was also left as a review on google and they replied with a boiler plate response telling me to email they and they'd get back to me in 24 hours.
Emailed the email address to see what they would do/say. Turns out they did nothing, it's been over 24 hours. An obvious auto reply simply meant to look like they're doing something for anyone reading my review, not actually intended for me as suspected. Minnesota-based CarHop, also known as Interstate Auto Group, is one of the largest buy-here, pay-here auto dealers in the nation.
Buy-here, pay-here dealers sell cars and originate and service the auto loan. CarHop has approximately 50 retail locations in approximately 15 states. CarHop sells vehicles primarily to customers with nonexistent or poor credit histories in need of subprime or deep subprime credit.
It markets itself as a way for these consumers to rebuild or build-up good credit by saying it will provide positive payment histories to the credit reporting companies. Consumers who buy from CarHop frequently do so because they suffer from poor credit scores and other financial challenges. CarHop and its affiliate also failed to provide accurate, positive credit information that it promised consumers it would supply to the credit reporting companies. The CFPB's investigation found that the companies inaccurately reported information for more than 84,000 accounts on a widespread and systemic basis. The CFPB is ordering the companies to cease their illegal activities and pay a $6,465,000 civil penalty. Thank you for taking the time to send your feedback.

Hi Anthony - Thank you for taking the time to send your feedback. I wish I could give them zero stars. I am a 3 time customer but never dealt with the issue i had to this year.
The vehicle drive train was faulty and i was still inside of my warranty. It was in a different shop almost every week. I took it to Sheridan auto tech which is their preferred shop o. 2 different occasions each time i was told they didn't know know what it was. But when i took it to the Meineke i was told it was the differential each time.
After i broke the bank getting it towed from this shop to that shop. I called with no money left after all that i put into and trying to get it fixed. I asked them what else i am supposed to do?
I hadn't missed a payment in the entire time that i had been a customer. They were unprofessional, and didn't care about my situation. I was told i needed to get the vehicle to yet another shop and let them do ANOTHER diagnostic. Long story short, They sale people trash, and they know it. Please if you read this, do not give them your business.
You can go somewhere else and be treated better regardless of credit. Since these spaces are 60 to 70 feet from the restaurant's entrance, Obois also purchased POSitouch software, allowing servers to utilize a cash register touch screen from an iPad they carry with them. This way, they can send orders and process payment without customers ever having to leave their cars. Hi Talianna - Thank you for taking the time to send your feedback.
We take customer service very seriously so we would love to speak with you. Management is always down your throat shoving unrealistic sales goals at you while not providing the support or training needed to accomplish the numbers they want. And CONSTANTLY MICROMANAGING EVERYTHING YOU DO .
They're pretty shady honestly, they dont care about the customers they claim to want to help. I was constantly berated and compared to employees who had worked for the company for years. I had my job dangled in front of my face for months and after giving my 2 weeks because I found a better opportunity after being told I had to hit a 70% closing goal for approved customers or that i would be fired the following month. I was told they were taking my notice effective immediately and to pack my things and go. I worked for the company for almost a year and a half.
In that time I went through 3 managers and one time was left to run the store by myself after working there for only a month and for a second time with only the help of another sales person for almost 3 MONTHS! One time I had a disagreement with my manager and was called "useless" I went to HR and was told to just do what my manager said regardless of my personal feelings about a situation. Would not recommend working here unless you really need a job. To make sure his customers are completely comfortable, Castree offers a few drive-in options.
It has been decades since many of them have implemented the service. Hi Vonisha - Thank you for taking the time to send your feedback. Pick one of these nine car hop restaurants in Southern California, pull up into a designated parking space, place an order, and enjoy.
Ten percent of the Wednesday night proceeds then go to the local food pantry. My husband and I SUV has been paid off ! As of March 26th my husband and I had a good credit score and they dropped our credit score Tremendously mine's 31 points my husband 51 points we always paid on time it's very disappointing. Also when we first bought the vehicle it had lot of problems, and put in 1,000 of dollar's in the vehicle so glad we are done with car hop ! First time and last time purchasing a car from them, and they listed our credit report as closed instead of Paid off ! Had our points go down on purpose, this is the 2nd time this has happen.
You can and will get approved for a car loan at ANY OTHER USED CAR LOT! Do not let them trick you into purchasing a vehicle from them. They sell mostly salvage cars from lake beds and mine is no different.
It was nice smelling the day I bought it and shined nice. In 3 days the wd40 wore off and half the car needs repairs. Do your homework and understand that carhop sells junk cars for 5X the blue book value.
Most of their business comes from wage garnishment and their business plan is in ruining people's lives who are already down. They will lie, lie and lie to get that signature. Don't shop here or you'll be sorry later. CarHop Marketing & Informational Text Consent.

He doesn't know anything about cars or car business. Also doesn't know anything about financing, and doesn't know how to run a dealership. This company the training they offer is completely useless, their training in the real world would be considered a joke. The amount of work they try to enforce onto a poorly paid employee is insane.
They only pay you A hourly wage the bonus structure is set up so that you never hit target. Even a CAR WASHER at a traditional franchise dealership makes more than a CARHOP SALES ASSOCIATE. It's a job that will give you full time hours. You sell used cars with a warranty that only includes big stuff and it's only a few things. And they pay a lot more for the cars worth. If it's negative 40 windchill they tell you to start all the cars by yourself while they are inside.
They don't want to hear anything negative about the job or they think you don't want to work there. And you get yelled at if you don't sell cars when people get approved. The one-minute video was filmed during the debut weekend of the sisters' new carhop service at the Vanowen Street location of their family's 75-year-old business. The carhop service, which takes place on Thursdays from 3 to 7 p.m., was a byproduct of the pandemic and Morgan's love for roller skating. The duo was finally able to repave their parking lot, which hadn't had a makeover since the 1960s, and took their wheels out for a spin. No matter what your style is, we have a car hop costume that you'll fall in love with.
